Residents get creative to put scarecrows on show
THE TEAM behind Rainow Church Scarecrow Fortnight are getting ready for this year’s event.
More than 70 themed scarecrows will go on display around the community at the event this summer.
Creations made by residents will be on show along streets, gardens and rooftops in the village for the annual event.
Amy Warrington, who is secretary of Rainow Church Scarecrow Committee, said: “It’s a community event in the country village of Rainow on the outskirts of Macclesfield in which over 70 scarecrows are displayed throughout the whole village.
“They will all be linked to this year’s theme of ‘High Days and Holidays’.
“It is in conjunction with the ever popular Scarecrow Teas in Rainow Church Centre which really brings together the community as we raise money for local charities.”
The quirky creations can be seen from Saturday, July 9 to Sunday, July 24.
The scarecrows will be judged and the winners announced at the Rainow Fete which takes place on Saturday, July 16.
The fete will have a parade and a host of family entertainment including a dog show, bouncy castle and fancy dress.
