Town girls crowned Euro champs
MACCLESFIELD Town Girls U13s were celebrating at the weekend after being crowned Cheshire Girls Football European League Champions.
It all boiled down to the final two games with the U13s Sylks needing a point to win the league outright.
They achieved this with a hard fought draw 1-1 playing Waverton girls in midweek.
A physical close game with Macclesfield coming from behind to secure the draw.
On Saturday, the final game of the season saw the Sylks pitted against Congleton Vale Juniors.
With the pressure off, the girls again came from behind to win 3-2 in a very close game, showing resolve with goals coming from Mia Sloan (2) and Leah Hannigan, but the man of the match award was awarded to Lucy Green, with her numerous outstanding athletic saves.
With these victories the girls the girls crowned Cheshire Girls Football European League Champions.
A spokesman for the club said: “Congratulations to the girls and coaches Charlotte Rawcliffe & Kevin Sloan for all the hard work and dedication given to the girls this season.”
Macclesfield Town Girls Football Club is FA Charter Standard all girls football club catering to age groups 6-18yrs.
The Charter Standard is the FA Kite mark of good practice in relation to coaching and safeguarding the girls.
