Juniors get kitted out for new season
MACCLESFIELD Golf Club have always had a great reputation for junior development and they are undergoing a facelift for the new season.
Under the guidance of new junior organiser Paul Tovee they have been sponsored by local car dealership Chrome Motors who have supplied the junior team with shirts and jumpers.
The juniors responded well with a convincing win in their first team event of the season beating a strong Ringway team by 3.5-0.5 in the Mid Cheshire League.
Paul Tovee said: “The team are really pleased with their new tops and are grateful to Chrome Motors and club shop owner Christian O’Connor for supplying them with fantastic fresh new kit.
“This is just the tip of the iceberg as Chrome are committed to junior sport in the town and are working closely with myself and local golf coach David Myers to provide school children in Macclesfield with free sessions both in schools and at the club.
“David will also be on hand to offer his expertise at the club’s Open Day on Sunday May 15 when young and old alike can try their hand for free at the golfing home of Jamie Donaldson who scored the winning point in Europe’s triumphant Ryder Cup team.
“Your golf may not quite be up to Jamie’s standard (yet) but with the help and encouragement of David you may surprise yourself. The club is noted for its friendly atmosphere and welcoming clubhouse which is providing a free buffet for all players.
