Flush out the clutter from your bathroom
“UK bathrooms are renowned for being small in size, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a streamlined, functional design,” says design expert David Gray.
He said: “With most of us constantly looking to pack more into our bathrooms, storage has to be cleverer and more versatile than ever before.
“Compact, slim-depth vanity units provide much-needed storage space to help keep the room clutter-free.
“As well as freestanding formats, many will have a wall-mounted option to expose valuable floor space.
“Wall-hung basins and WCs are also great for this and can create the illusion of a larger space.
“Alternatively, using a run of slim depth fitted furniture, paired with a slim depth semi-counter top basin, can actually give a small room a very streamlined look and be incredibly spaceefficient.
“Short projection WCs are also an obvious design choice, even more so if you go for a back to wall option with a concealed cistern.”
Helping to keep clutter hidden from view is one of the biggest problems in most homes.
David said: “Fitted furniture is perfect for creating a seamless, unified look across the bathroom, while utilising the room’s available space.
“Meeting a range of storage needs, many units can be personalised with cleverly-designed and highly practical accessories such as pull-out linen baskets, discreetly concealed toilet roll holders as well as drawer dividers that help to keep everything in place.”
He added: “Wall-hung sanitary ware is perfect for those looking to create a streamlined and clutterfree bathroom.
“Not only does it look chic and contemporary, but it’s particularly suited to the UK’s typically small bathrooms as it frees up valuable floor space and makes the room seem much more spacious,” said David, a product designer at Roper Rhodes, specialist in bathroom furniture and products.
