Macclesfield Express - - BEFORE THE BENCH -

THE town’s leaders have seen first hand the meticulous progress by the investigation into the tragic explosion at Bosley.

Macclesfield MP David Rutley, Councillor Lesley Smetham, who represents Bosley on Cheshire East Council, and its chief executive Mike Suarez visited the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) laboratory in Buxton where physical evidence recovered from the site of the deadly explosions and fire is being examined.

During the visit the group met with Richard Judge, the chief executive of HSE, and the investigation team including Visual Presentation Services – who use technology such as aerial drones for high resolution still and video photography, laser mapping and 3D modelling – and the engineering team which use advanced metallurgical analysis.

Speaking after the visit Mr Rutley said: “It is good to see that positive progress is being made, and this is testament to the hard work and dedication of the investigation team, some of whom I was able to thank during the visit.

“It is important for all those who have been affected by this tragic event to know that a full and thorough investigation is underway.”
