Band join fa­mous faces on live TV mu­sic show­case

A BAND from Mac­cles­field ap­peared along­side Sir El­ton John on a hit live mu­sic TV show.

Spring King, which fea­tures Mac­cles­field’s Peter Dar­ling­ton, played on Later with...Jools Hol­land on Tues­day (May 10).

The garage-punk four piece, which also in­cludes Fal­li­b­roome Acad­emy stu­dent Tarek Musa, starred along­side Sir El­ton, Corinne Bai­ley Rae, Bloc Party, Kronos Quar­tet and Ba­sia Bu­lat.

The band’s de­but al­bum ‘Tell Me If You Like To’ is out on June 10 on Is­land Records.

It fea­tures the hit sin­gle City and 13 other tracks in­clud­ing Detroit, Who Are You?, It’s So Dark, Take Me Away, De­mons, Rec­ti­fier, Tell Me If You Like To, The Sum­mer, Let’s Ride, Bet­ter Man, Mumma, They’re Com­ing Af­ter You, Heaven, and two live tracks.

Peter and Tarek have been writ­ing and record­ing to­gether since they were 13 and formed Spring King af­ter they went to univer­sity.

The band had a whirl­wind 2015 thanks in part to DJ Zane Lowe us­ing their sin­gle ‘City’ to launch Ap­ple’s ra­dio sta­tion Beats 1.
