20,000 see Bart’s sunset church snap
AN amateur photographer has captured a stunning picture of one of the town’s oldest churches.
Bart Stefaniak, 21, snapped the reflection of the clock tower of St Michael’s Church during sunset.
He sent it to the Express and we posted it on our Facebook page, prompting an amazing reaction.
His photo was shared dozens of times, reaching more than 20,000 people all over the world.
Commenting on Bart’s picture, Louise Guirey said: “It is a very clever and unique picture. Never seen anything like that before.”
Bridget “Fantastic Barret said: photograph. Hope you enter this into a national competition.”
Patricia Wellock said: “Excellent photo. The clarity in the reflection is superb.”
Grace Nadin-Salter said: “Stunning.”
The success has spurred on Bart, who lives on the Moss estate, in his hobby.
Bart said: “I have messed around with cameras for about three years, but only last year decided to try and learn how to use the features properly.
“I was walking around the town centre a few weeks ago and the sunset was creating some wonderful images.
“I was making my way towards the church when I looked down and saw the reflection of the clock tower in the puddle. I had to quickly avoid stepping in the puddle and wrecking the shot.
“As soon as I took it I knew it was one of the best I have ever taken.”
Bart decided to share it with Express readers to get some feedback – and was blown away by the response.
He said: “I posted the picture with no expectations and forgot about it. A friend told me that it was being shared on Facebook and getting nice comments. It made me so happy.”
Bart is originally from Poland.
His family, including dad Jan, mum Joanna and sister Maria, 18, moved to Macclesfield nine years ago.
Bart said he proudly calls Macclesfield his home now.
He said: “It was scary moving here nine years ago, and speaking little English. But I tried really hard at school and passed my exams. Now I studying marketing management at university in Manchester.”
Bart started photography as part of his course.
He said: “I am just starting off, so all the feedback I get helps. Having my picture get such good feedback has really helped my confidence.”
