Student bags academic award
A COLLEGE student from Prestbury has scooped a prestigious award for her academic achievements.
Natasha Thomason, 19, from Willow Way, who attends Abbey College in Manchester, received the Attainment Award after high academic achievement across all the faculties in the college.
The A-level geography, maths and economics student was presented with her certificate in front of 180 of her peers, staff and parents at a ceremony held at Manchester Town Hall earlier this month.
The event was a celebration of the accomplishments of students due to graduate this summer and focused on various highlights throughout the year.
Awards were then given to those individuals who had made outstanding academic achievements.
Guest of honour Graham Able, deputy chairman of the Alpha Plus Group, an education company which runs a network of independent schools and colleges, presented the awards.
The Abbey College Manchester band then entertained the crowd with a variety of vocals and instrumental performances.
Natasha, who has received offers to study geography at University College London, the University of Nottingham and the University of Manchester, said: “I have been on such a fantastic journey at Abbey College Manchester.
“I have met some incredible people and I am sad to be leaving.
“I will never forget all the help and support I received to help me achieve the great grades I needed.”
Principal Liz Elam said: “Natasha is a student we are sure has a bright future ahead of her.
“The Attainment Award is truly suited to her as she has maintained excellent academic skills throughout her time at the college.”
