Good marks for pupils’ club
AN out of school club has been awarded a ‘good’ Ofsted rating.
The Kool Out Of School club, based at Marlborough Primary School, was graded ‘good’ in all three key areas – effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching and learning and personal development, behaviour and welfare.
The club employs five staff and opens from Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 8.50am, and from 3.20pm to 6pm during term time. It is also open from 8am to 6pm in school holidays.
Inspectors who visited the club said: “Staff use their qualifications and experience well to provide good quality experiences tailored to children’s interests.”
Inspectors also found the manager and staff worked well together to identify areas of weakness.
Their report stated: “All staff have attended safeguarding training. They have a good awareness of the procedures that are in place to identify risks to children and protect them from harm.”
Parents were also, inspectors reported, ‘extremely complimentary’ about the club, and staff were praised for being ‘positive role models.’
Inspectors said: “They provide children with lots of praise and encouragement and celebrate their achievements.”
To be graded ‘outstanding’, inspectors said, staff interactions needed to be further raised so children gained as much as possible from the club.
