Friends team up for Queen’s birthday
A TEAM of friends are organising events to celebrate the Queen’s birthday and improvements to their community centre.
Linda Pickup, Annie Rhodes-Charles and Sue Smith are part of the events committee at Sutton Ex-Servicemen’s Club and have organised a tea party and fancy dress disco.
Annie said: “We thought it would be a great idea to involve the ●● THE Sutton St James Bells ring out every Sunday thanks to a dedicated team of bellringers who practise every Wednesday members’ children in an activity to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.
“In light also of the new refurbishment to the members bar, which will be completed on June 10, this event will also bring members in to see the new decoration and facilities which are being worked on.
“We applied for a grant from Cheshire East Council so that we could put on a party for the families to commemorate evening, from 8.15pm.
New, novice or seasoned ringers are welcome, just bive the team a call the churchwardens to make this royal occasion.
“The £100 was gratefully received so we can supply decorations, food and fun activities.”
A Right Royal Tea Party is on Saturday, June 11 from 3pm to 5pm and A Right Royal Fancy Dress Disco will start at 8pm until late.
