Friends team up for Queen’s birth­day

A TEAM of friends are or­gan­is­ing events to cel­e­brate the Queen’s birth­day and im­prove­ments to their com­mu­nity cen­tre.

Linda Pickup, An­nie Rhodes-Charles and Sue Smith are part of the events com­mit­tee at Sut­ton Ex-Ser­vice­men’s Club and have or­gan­ised a tea party and fancy dress disco.

An­nie said: “We thought it would be a great idea to in­volve the ●● THE Sut­ton St James Bells ring out ev­ery Sun­day thanks to a ded­i­cated team of bell­ringers who prac­tise ev­ery Wed­nes­day mem­bers’ chil­dren in an ac­tiv­ity to cel­e­brate the Queen’s 90th birth­day.

“In light also of the new re­fur­bish­ment to the mem­bers bar, which will be com­pleted on June 10, this event will also bring mem­bers in to see the new dec­o­ra­tion and fa­cil­i­ties which are be­ing worked on.

“We ap­plied for a grant from Cheshire East Coun­cil so that we could put on a party for the fam­i­lies to com­mem­o­rate evening, from 8.15pm.

New, novice or sea­soned ringers are wel­come, just bive the team a call the church­war­dens to make this royal oc­ca­sion.

“The £100 was grate­fully re­ceived so we can sup­ply dec­o­ra­tions, food and fun ac­tiv­i­ties.”

A Right Royal Tea Party is on Satur­day, June 11 from 3pm to 5pm and A Right Royal Fancy Dress Disco will start at 8pm un­til late.
