PRESTBURY suffered defeat when they took on Winnington Park.

Park won the toss and elected to bat. Some good, tight early bowling from Tim Braender, Prestbury’s new overseas player, backed by Miah, was undone by an injury to Braender.

Thereafter a super innings from Daly (91) pushed the rate up.

Prestbury kept chipping away and wickets fell at regular intervals. Miah, 2 for 60, supported by Kalish Bathia, 1 for 24, Aquel Ahmed, 2 for 67, and 2 for 17 from all rounder Stu Costello saw Park 208 for 7.

Prestbury’s batting started with a disaster as Stu Costello, Rommel Gondal and Aquel Ahmed were all out without scoring. At 6 for 4, Ant Cunningham went for one. There was some limited resistance from Miah (16) but wickets kept tumbling.

Bryn Thompson (6) and skipper Max Cowley Jones hit a couple of good fours but Cowley Jones fell for 12. Conor Hibel hit a big six but fell for 13 and that was about it as Prestbury were 51 all out.

Nets are required as the batting needs working on at Prestbury, but the spirit is there.

Some umpire decisions don’t work out on the day but over a season they level out.
