Hospital team taking giant strides for charity
A TEAM from Macclesfield Hospital is hoping to dance their way around a half marathon for charity.
Doctors Marta Babores, Sriram Iyer, Joanna Gallagher and Micayla Telfer are running the Rock n’ Roll Liverpool Half Marathon on Sunday, May 29.
They will be joined by colleagues from the East Cheshire NHS Trust, with super-fit nurse Rachel Falconer will be running the full marathon.
The challenge has been set in aid of the trust’s charity ECHO, with runners hoping to raise funds for respiratory equipment for Macclesfield Hospital’s Ward 4.
Fiona Doorey, ECHO’s fundraising manager, said: “It’s great that our dedicated doctors, consultants, nurses and non-clinical colleagues are supporting our patients outside of working hours by raising funds for new equipment.
“While some members of the group are keen runners, others have never done a half marathon before so it will be even more of an achievement.”
