New band gets vote to open the big show
A NEW Macclesfield band have won the chance to play the opening night of a new musical about Tom Jones.
Cassia were chosen to play at the Lowry on Wednesday (May 25), the first night of the production of Tom the Musical, after a public vote.
The three-piece features Robert Ellis, 20, from Prestbury, on vocals and guitar, Lou Cotterill, 19, from the Moss, on bass, and Jacob Leff, 20, from Tytherington, on drums.
The band describe themselves as playing a calypso pop/indie style.
The group started playing together last year and have started build up a following with gigs all over the north west including a few venues in their home town.
Rob said: “We’ve been rehearsing a mad amount, all day, most days a week for the last four or five months, arranging the tunes and writing. We have settled upon a strong brand that we think reflects our music, us as a band and also us as individuals.”
Cassia are also preparing to take their summery sound on the festival circuit.
