School bur­glary sees pro­lific thief jailed

A SE­RIAL thief has been jailed af­ter break­ing into a pri­mary school.

Ash­ley James Whittaker, 32, bur­gled Park Royal Com­mu­nity school on May 4 and stole a safe.

He then tar­geted a shop three times in two days.

On May 11 he stole meat from the Co-op Late Shop in Mac­cles­field, re­turn­ing the same day to steal wash­ing de­ter­gent. He re­turned one last time on May 13 to again steal meat.

At Crewe mag­is­trates court, Whittaker, of Brook Street, Mac­cles­field, ad­mit­ted bur­glary and three charges of theft.

The of­fences breached the su­per­vi­sion re­quire­ment fol­low­ing his re­lease from prison af­ter he had served half of an eight week sen­tence for an of­fence of steal­ing meat joints from the Co-op Late Shop in Mac­cles­field on Jan­uary 4.

Mag­is­trates jailed Whittaker for eight weeks for the bur­glary and four week for the thefts, to be served con­sec­u­tively.

He also re­ceived 14 days for each of the four breaches, to be served con­sec­u­tively.

The over­all sen­tence is 20 weeks.

Court records show Whittaker has a ‘his­tory of of­fend­ing’, with 29 con­vic­tions for 68 of­fences.
