Shoplifter is locked up af­ter racially abus­ing PC

A MAN who racially abused a po­lice of­fi­cer has been jailed.

Neal Adams, 41, was locked up for 24 weeks af­ter he was con­victed of ‘dis­grace­fully racially abu­sive be­hav­iour’ to­ward PC Basir­att.

At Mac­cles­field mag­is­trates court, Adams, of Ash Grove, Mac­cles­field, ad­mit­ted charges of theft, threat­en­ing be­hav­iour and racially ag­gra­vated threat­en­ing be­hav­iour.

He also ad­mit­ted breach­ing a re­strain­ing order is­sued by War­ring­ton Crown Court in Fe­bru­ary.

Adams stole a bot­tle of wine worth £10 from the Mor­risons store in Mac­cles­field on Fe­bru­ary 21.

The same day he caused PC Basir­att ha­rass­ment, alarm or dis­tress by us­ing threat­en­ing, abu­sive or in­sult­ing words or be­hav­iour.

On March 13, Adams was racially abu­sive to the same of­fi­cer.

On May 8 he breached the re­strain­ing order.

The court recorded that it was Adams’ third breach of a re­strain­ing order im­posed three months ago.

Court records show mag­is­trates jailed Adam for ‘wil­ful breach of a court order’, his ‘dis­grace­ful racially abu­sive be­hav­iour’ and his pre­vi­ous list of con­vic­tions.
