Great suc­cess at blood pres­sure day

THE Ro­tary cam­paign to en­cour­age more peo­ple to have their blood pres­sure tested has been hailed a great suc­cess.

The Ro­tary club of Mac­cles­field Castle members were joined by three vol­un­teer paramedics for a spe­cial aware­ness day and tested the blood pres­sure of 250 peo­ple.

Of those 44 were en­cour­aged to see their GP and 20 more for ur­gent re­fer­ral.

Ro­tar­ian Steve Smith said: “Many peo­ple do have their blood pres­sure taken reg­u­larly but this shows that cre­at­ing such aware­ness with the know your blood pres­sure day can make a dif­fer­ence to many peo­ple.

“I would also like to thank the paramedics for their time and of course the Grosvenor cen­tre staff for their great help and as­sis­tance.”

The next event on the Ro­tary Club’s cal­en­dar is a con­cert by the vo­cal en­sem­ble Capric­cio.

The event is at 7.30pm on Satur­day, June 4, and takes place at St Michael’s Church, Mar­ket Place.
