Great success at blood pressure day
THE Rotary campaign to encourage more people to have their blood pressure tested has been hailed a great success.
The Rotary club of Macclesfield Castle members were joined by three volunteer paramedics for a special awareness day and tested the blood pressure of 250 people.
Of those 44 were encouraged to see their GP and 20 more for urgent referral.
Rotarian Steve Smith said: “Many people do have their blood pressure taken regularly but this shows that creating such awareness with the know your blood pressure day can make a difference to many people.
“I would also like to thank the paramedics for their time and of course the Grosvenor centre staff for their great help and assistance.”
The next event on the Rotary Club’s calendar is a concert by the vocal ensemble Capriccio.
The event is at 7.30pm on Saturday, June 4, and takes place at St Michael’s Church, Market Place.
Tickets are £10 (under-18s free) from The Macclesfield Eye Society on 01625 422602, Macclesfield Information Centre, 01625 378123; or from Rotarian Ann Watson on 07949 323572.
