Royal party for school’s 90th birthday
BEECH Hall School hosted a very British Garden Party to celebrate both it 90th birthday.
The school is marking the milestone of its ninth decade by taking part in 90 events throughout the year.
And with the Queen also turning 90 this year, organisers decided to share a 90 minute birthday party with Her Majesty.
Pupils, parents and teachers enjoyed an afternoon playing croquet, cricket and taking part in other traditional British pastimes. as well as feasting on a buffet which included scones and Victoria sponge.
Little ones were entertained by donkeys which were on hand to give rides around the school field while parents sipped on Pimms and enjoyed the British summer.
A raffle was held with the lucky winner taking home a magnum of Champagne.
Pupils were also able to cool down on the warm afternoon by taking a dip in the school’s recently renovated swimming pool.
Headmaster James Allen said the afternoon as ‘fantastic’ and said staff and pupils were very pleased so many people joined them for the ‘magnificent celebration’.
He added: “It is a great achievement to have reached 90 and to share our birthday with The Queen is an honour.
“The school looked great decorated with bunting and the school field was packed full of pupils, parents and staff all enjoying the festivities together. It is important we recognise both of these milestones, which of course everyone did whilst having fun.”
