Royal party for school’s 90th birth­day

BEECH Hall School hosted a very British Gar­den Party to cel­e­brate both it 90th birth­day.

The school is mark­ing the mile­stone of its ninth decade by tak­ing part in 90 events through­out the year.

And with the Queen also turn­ing 90 this year, or­gan­is­ers de­cided to share a 90 minute birth­day party with Her Majesty.

Pupils, par­ents and teach­ers en­joyed an af­ter­noon play­ing cro­quet, cricket and tak­ing part in other tra­di­tional British pas­times. as well as feast­ing on a buf­fet which in­cluded scones and Vic­to­ria sponge.

Lit­tle ones were en­ter­tained by don­keys which were on hand to give rides around the school field while par­ents sipped on Pimms and en­joyed the British sum­mer.

A raf­fle was held with the lucky win­ner tak­ing home a mag­num of Cham­pagne.

Pupils were also able to cool down on the warm af­ter­noon by tak­ing a dip in the school’s re­cently ren­o­vated swim­ming pool.

Head­mas­ter James Allen said the af­ter­noon as ‘fan­tas­tic’ and said staff and pupils were very pleased so many peo­ple joined them for the ‘mag­nif­i­cent cel­e­bra­tion’.

He added: “It is a great achieve­ment to have reached 90 and to share our birth­day with The Queen is an hon­our.

“The school looked great dec­o­rated with bunting and the school field was packed full of pupils, par­ents and staff all en­joy­ing the fes­tiv­i­ties to­gether. It is im­por­tant we recog­nise both of these mile­stones, which of course every­one did whilst hav­ing fun.”
