Medical centre team in bubble race for hospice
A TEAM from Bollington Medical Centre raced through walls of bubbles in aid of a popular charity.
The workers and friends from the medical centre, which is based on Wellington Road in the town, took part in the charity event the Bubble Rush, at Oulton Park, Tarporley.
It’s a running course around the race track with five ft walls of foam for particpiants to wade through along the 5km route.
The whole family can take part and enjoy live entertainment throughout.
It’s one of a series of similar events which take place around the country to raise money for various charities.
The team were raising money for East Cheshire Hospice, which cares for patients from Macclesfield and the surrounding area.
The charity needs thousands of pounds every day to operate.
Tracy Culkin, from the Bollington Medical Centre team, said: “We entered the Bubble Rush at Oulton Park in aid of East Cheshire Hospice.
“Our team was made up of all different age ranges, from just 10 years old and right up to 60.
“It is a fun 5k run around a circuit where there are water cannons with foam and also areas you have to go through foam. We did it for East Cheshire Hospice and a couple of other charities.
“We had a great time at the event and were pleased to raise money for such a great cause.”
Tracy said she was running for a personal reason too. She said: “I was running because my son who is in year two on the media studies course at Macclesfield College had to do an end of year project so he chose to do it on me.
“He filmed me training with my daughter Gemma and then taking part in the run with the team from the medical centre.
“I managed to finish in 50 minutes which I was really pleased about because I had wanted to finish the race within the hour. It was really good fun.”
Participants took part in the Bubble Rush in aid of the hospice after succesful fundraising at the event last year. It was one of a series of fundraising activities which take place during the year in aid of the hospice, on Millbank Drive, Macclesfield.
