Shopping centre in rugby sponsorship deal
SHOPPERS got a glimpse of some special silverware when players from Macclesfield RUFC’s first team stopped by at the Grosvenor Centre.
The champs brought the National League Two North (NLTN) trophy and the Cheshire Cup with them to show off to visitors.
In April the Grosvenor Centre announced that it had become a sponsor of MRUFC and would be sponsoring two players.
Grosvenor Centre manager, Ed Kennedy, said he was thrilled that because of that partnership he was able to welcome the champions to the centre.
He said: “It’s been a great weekend.
“I’m delighted that the lads were able to come and show off the trophies that represents their hard work, to the people of Macclesfield.
“It’s safe to say everyone is looking forward to seeing The Blues back where they belong in National League One.”
David Wilkinson, commercial director at MRUFC, said he was pleased how popular the visit proved, adding: “This is a great motivator for the lads.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming our supporters to the first home game and Family Fun Day on Saturday September 10.”
