Nature show lights up skies
FORKS of lightning lit up the skies above Macclesfield in a stunning show of nature’s power.
And readers were quick to capture the incredible scenes, sending them to our Facebook page.
There we reports of huge booms of thunder across the borough as hot and cold air stream collided hundreds of feet above our heads.
Readers Isaac Oldfield, Nathan Rutter, Emily Rose Hudson and Kerry Parker Thompson sent us these pictures while Claire Jones send us this incredible shot taken by her son Louis. But while some readers were kept awake by the storm on the night of Tuesday, June 7, it completed passed others by.
On our Facebook page, Julie Hart posted ‘What storm?’ while Judith Yates said: “Never heard a thing”.
Weather forecasters are predicting more wet weather for the borough in the coming days.
Scattered heavy rain is expected to continue on Wednesday and Thursday, but it is hoped it will brighten up by the weekend.
Average temperatures are expected between 14 and 17 degrees.
