Winner in the frame

Macclesfield Express - - LIGHTNING SPECIAL -

AGE UK Cheshire East has revealed the winner of its 2016 Photography Competition is John Furness from Macclesfield.

The judges thought the winning photograph captured both the spirit of growing older and the beauty of the local countryside in Cheshire East.

John said: “I am delighted to have won, but the key thing is simply to enjoy photography and there are plenty of wonderful scenic places in Cheshire East that deserve to be photographed.

“This picture was taken near Jenkin’s Chapel and it shows the magnificent views across Cheshire East. I thought I have a camera, no shortage of local beautiful scenery, so I set the camera to self timer and just gave it a go!”

The winning photograph will take pride of place on the charity’s website and in the public areas at Age UK Cheshire East for people to enjoy.

Alongside being a talented photographer, John is also a volunteer for Age UK Cheshire East, delivering IT drop in sessions for local older people.
