Wheelie bin arsonists torch vehicle
A CAR has been destroyed after someone deliberately set fire to a pair of wheelie bins.
It is believed the car, which was parked on Berkshire Close, Upton Priory, caught fire after arsonists set ablaze two green wheelie bins that were close by.
Fire crews were called to the reports of a fire at 4.45am on Sunday, June 11 and found that the flames had spread to a nearby car.
Hose reel jets were used to put the fire out.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “It is believed that this fire was started deliberately.
“If you have any information that could help find those responsible please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Posting on facebook Charlotte Moore, whose husband owns the car, also appealed for information. She said: “My husband’s car was set on fire this morning around 4.30am on Berkshire Close on the Upton Priory.
“It’s believed someone set a green bin alight behind it which then spread to the car. The police as asking for any information regarding it.”
