Wheelie bin ar­son­ists torch ve­hi­cle

A CAR has been de­stroyed af­ter some­one de­lib­er­ately set fire to a pair of wheelie bins.

It is be­lieved the car, which was parked on Berk­shire Close, Up­ton Pri­ory, caught fire af­ter ar­son­ists set ablaze two green wheelie bins that were close by.

Fire crews were called to the re­ports of a fire at 4.45am on Sun­day, June 11 and found that the flames had spread to a nearby car.

Hose reel jets were used to put the fire out.

A spokesman for the fire ser­vice said: “It is be­lieved that this fire was started de­lib­er­ately.

Post­ing on face­book Char­lotte Moore, whose hus­band owns the car, also ap­pealed for in­for­ma­tion. She said: “My hus­band’s car was set on fire this morn­ing around 4.30am on Berk­shire Close on the Up­ton Pri­ory.

“It’s be­lieved some­one set a green bin alight be­hind it which then spread to the car. The po­lice as ask­ing for any in­for­ma­tion re­gard­ing it.”
