Pupils in shop’s good books
KIND-HEARTED pupils from Ash Grove Academy in Macclesfield showed their appreciation for book donations by raising £88.30 for East Cheshire Hospice.
The charity’s shop at Chestergate was overwhelmed with books from the public so decided to pass some on to the school.
The donation came through long-standing hospice shop volunteer Liz Kershaw whose daughter Katy Ghorbanian teaches at Ash Grove.
In turn youngsters held fundraising initiatives, including a cake sale, to support East Cheshire Hospice. Shop supervisor Kate Davies said: “It was kind of the pupils and the school to think of us in this way. We receive lots of books from the public and are always grateful for such donations. However, on this occasion we had too many for us to sell so it was a lovely idea to benefit the children with some extra reading material and further strengthen our strong ties with local schools.”
