Mack’s heading home to Macc
JACK Mackreth feels like he is returning home after he re-joined Macclesfield Town for his second spell with the club.
The 24-year-old has left National League rivals Tranmere Rovers and has made the move to the Moss Rose, signing a one year deal.
Mackreth previously played for Macclesfield from 2012 to 2014, before he then departed for Grimsby Town.
He’s excited to now be back with the Silkmen, and believes he can achieve good things with the club.
“Ever since I left Macclesfield I have always kept an eye on their results to see how they were doing with a view to coming back,” he said.
“My first phone call after leaving Tranmere was to John Askey and he was keen to get something done, so I am made up I’m back now.
“I played some of the best football of my career in my second year and we had a really good set of lads.”
Macclesfield have set targets of clinching promotion over the past few years, but have been unable to achieve their goals.
Mackreth believes that can change this time around though, and believes the team are good enough to finally go all the way.
“Hopefully we can have another good year and push for the play-offs. We just want that little extra push to get in to the play-off spots,” he said.
“This is a football club that has just fell short in the last couple of years and hopefully this can be our year.”
