Tour tees Tytherington up for success
FOLLOWING a successful season in the First Division of the Mid Cheshire Football League, Tytherington Juniors Under 12 Football Club headed out to the Isle of Man for a Team Tour.
The venture has taken a whole year to plan, with the boys earning their place on the trip by doing various fundraising activities to pay for their own travel.
The highlight of the trip was a tournament in the Isle of Man Bowl Arena, a 3,000 seat stadium which is the Island’s version of Wembley. The team faced extremely tough competition from both the Island’s elite Academy and Centre of Excellence Teams, but produced a fine display of attacking football that kept the crowd entertained.
In between the football the team stayed at an outdoor adventure centre on the outskirts of Ramsey, where they got involved in a wide range of Outdoor Activities that were designed to help the team members bond. The climax of this was a 200 foot abseil off a cliff face onto a deserted beach.
Gareth Butterworth, the team manager stated that he was “proud of all the lads, and coaches for showing bravery and courage for overcoming their fears, and this will help them become a stronger as both a team and individuals.”
The core of the team have been together since the age of four, and next year they will progress to 11-a-side in full size nets.
“Having bonded on the trip, it will ensure they start next season as a stronger squad, and this will help them face the challenges of a long hard season,” added Butterworth.
