Lewis cites Askey as key to extended stay
MACCLESFIELD Town midfielder Paul Lewis has revealed that manager John Askey was the main reason why he decided to stay at the football club.
Lewis has been with the Silkmen since 2010, and has gone on to be one of the key players in the side over the past couple of years. His emergence in the first team has come under current boss Askey.
“The manager had a lot of influence in convincing me to stay.
“I was in the youth team when he arrived and allowed me to play in the first team, and he gives me confidence when I play,” he told the club’s official website.
“Life at the club has been very good.
“I’ve always been treated well since I’ve been here, and it’s a good club to be at, especially when you’re a young player because the manager will give you more of a chance. I’ve enjoyed my time here, I’ve been here a while now so it’s great. I’m happy to have signed a new deal and I’m glad to be playing for this club. I’m playing somewhere where I’m happy and I’ve been here for six years now.
“I get on well with the manager and I enjoy playing for him, so now I’m looking forward to the start of the new season.”
