Halls so relieved to sign at Macc
ANDY Halls is glad to be putting the saga surrounding his future behind him after finally signing a new deal at Macclesfield Town.
The defender has signed a new one-year contract with the club to stay at the Moss Rose for the forthcoming campaign.
Halls has been with Macclesfield for the past three seasons, and he was happy to be staying put.
“I am delighted to finally get the deal finished but it has taken a little bit longer than I had expected to get it done,” he said.
“I am really happy to have it over the line now though and I am just looking forward to another positive season and hopefully promotion.”
Halls is confident about his team’s chances this season, and hopes that the team can strengthen their squad this summer.
“The manager has mentioned the players that we have signed early on and that we want to build on last season,” he said.
“We signed Jack Mackreth earlier this week and that should get everybody excited because that it an exciting signing.
“I said at the end of last season we had the strong- est team that we had all season.
“We were brilliant all over the pitch in the final 10 games and now we want to take that form in to the new season.”
One player that has left Macclesfield though is their captain Paul Turnbull, after he signed for National League rivals Barrow.
It is a big blow for the Silkmen, with Turnbull rejecting a new deal at the Moss Rose in order to join Barrow on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old joined Macc back in 2013, making over 100 appearances for the club during his time at the Moss Rose.
