School’s new extension gets the thumbs up
PRIMARY school pupils welcomed a Bishop to show off their brand new extension.
Bishop Libby Lane was invited to Bollinborok Church of England Primary School, on Abbey Road, to see the new hall extension.
She led an assembly for the whole school and was joined by representatives of the Governing Board and the Friends of Bollinbrook.
The children welcomed the Bishop of Stockport by singing a song which they had written themselves in support of the Silklife Food Bank.
This was followed by an address by the Bishop on the theme of families.
Afterwards the Bishop blessed the new building before the children sang again.
Following the opening Bishop Libby was given a tour of the school by school councillors Kate Gamwell and Freddie Young.
They visited each classroom, meeting the children and staff and finding out about life at the school.
Headteacher Mike Waters said “It was lovely to have Bishop Libby with us and for her to bless our new extension.
“We are very grateful to the Friends of Bollinbrook who helped to raise funds for the project alongside t he Governing Board and the Diocese of Chester.
“We are very excited about the new space and have lots of plans to put it to good use.”
The new extension allows extra space for a range of extra-curricular activities and clubs and thanks to the inclusion of sliding partitions the space can also be used creatively during the day to allow for a range of additional activities to take place.
