●» FOR their fi­nal con­cert of this sea­son Poynton’s St Ge­orge’s Singers will join forces with Stock­port Sym­phony Orches­tra, this time to present Vaughan Wil­liams’ A Sea Sym­phony.

Two ris­ing stars, so­prano Ali­son Rose and group Pres­i­dent, Mar­cus Farnsworth will re­turn to the group as the soloists.

Other works in the con­cert are four of Holst’s beau­ti­ful Ave Maria and four of his Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda, in­spired by the an­cient San­skrit po­ems of praise and thanks­giv­ing from Hindu scrip­ture, per­formed by the ladies of the Choir with harpist Louise Thomson.

Louise will also per­form Wal­terKühne’s Fan­tasy on themes from Tchaikovsy’s Eu­gene One­gin.

The con­cert will be held at The Monastery, Manch­ester.

There is am­ple free park­ing and coach trans­port is avail­able from Poynton Civic Hall car park (leav­ing at 6pm) and Hazel Grove sta­tion car park (leav­ing at 6.10pm) and can be booked by con­tact­ing the ticket sec­re­tary.

Tick­ets are £17, £15 con­ces­sions, or £5 stu­dents and chil­dren.
