Pro­mo­tion for Bolling­ton’s ju­nior foot­ballers

BOLLING­TON United Ju­nior Foot­ball Club (BUJFC) U-14s have been crowned cham­pi­ons of the Stock­port Metro Ju­nior League, di­vi­sion three.

The team may have lost three of their first four games, but they didn’t lose heart and the sea­son took an up­turn with a 5-2 win over Bur­nage. Grad­u­ally the team im­proved and with each vic­tory grew in con­fi­dence and suc­ceeded in win­ning 13 of their last 14 games. This was enough to se­cure the league title by two points.

The high­lights of the sea­son were a hard fought 2-0 vic­tory away to Rich­mond Rovers and a nail-bit­ing 2-1 win at Cheadle and Gat­ley, the even­tual run­ners-up on

There will be a bouncy cas­tle, face paint­ing, balloon mod­el­ling, crafts and a Top Gear style leader board chal­lenge.

There will also be free hot­dogs and snacks, and en­ter­tain­ment on the big screen.

The event is open to all - you don’t have to have or bring a bike.

It takes place be­tween 11am and 3pm the team’s last game of the sea­son.

As­sisted by team top goal scorer, Henry Brid­gett, and play­ers’ player of the sea­son Kevin at the Life Church on Hawthorn Road, Bolling­ton. ●● BOLLING­TON will be in bloom next week when the dec­o­ra­tions come out for the Well Dress­ing Fes­ti­val. Wa­ter fea­tures across the town will be dec­o­rated with flora for the an­nual event.

They will be on show from Satur­day, July 2, un­til Sun­day, July 10, Lopez, Bolling­ton scored the most goals in the league as well as record­ing the most clean sheets.

Paul Hamer, Bolling­ton United U-14s coach, said: “The club and sup­port­ers are so proud of the boys for show­ing ded­i­ca­tion and team spirit through­out the sea­son.

“Con­sid­er­ing they started with no home venue and had a rocky start un­til their tri­umph over Bur­nage, the play­ers grew in con­fi­dence and re­ally de­served to bring home the title.

“We wish them the best of luck in di­vi­sion two.” with an open­ing cer­e­mony on at the Greg Foun­tain, on Flash Lane, at 11.30am on the Satur­day. ●● POTT Shrigley’s com­mu­nity cin­ema Flix in the Stix will show Spec­tre at its next event. It will run from 7.30pm un­til 10.30pm at the vil­lage hall.
