●● A TENNIS club is encouraging residents inspired by Wimbledon to join them on the courts.
Prestbury Tennis Club is hosting a free open afternoon on Saturday, June 25, between 1.30pm and 5pm. Visitors will be able to enjoy a game at the club, off Bollin Grove, Prestbury, and enjoy afternoon tea and a bar.
Lesley Cain, from the club, said: “The idea is for people (ages three to 80) to try tennis for free and find out about what we have to offer. On the day people will be encouraged to have a go. To help potential new players we have courses available for those who have not played for a long time (Rusty Rackets). We also have cardio sessions where we all run around like headless chickens manically chasing tennis balls and ideally hitting them. Our Head Coach and his team of coaches will be available during the afternoon. There will be afternoon teas available and the bar will be open. Discounted membership rates are offered on the day.The club includes eight courts, artificial clay and grass, which are floodlit at night.
