Jack’s made up with Macc return
MACCLESFIELD Town midfielder Jack Mackreth expects to settle straight back into the squad after returning to the Moss Rose.
Mackreth re-joined the Silkmen on a one-year deal last week after he was released by National League rivals Tranmere Rovers.
It’s his second spell at the club, having previously played for Macc for two years from July 2012 to July 2014.
He’s glad to be back in a similar atmosphere, and is confident that it won’t take him long to hit the ground running.
“I am excited now that I’m here. Having spoken to the manager, I can’t wait to get going again now,” he said. “I’ve spoken to the lads too and been in and around the ground so I’m really looking forward to it.
“I was settled here the first time, so I think it’ll be an easy transition for me. I’ll probably try and squeeze a holiday in now, as it’ll be a lot of hard work once we’re back!”
Mackreth had a frustrating campaign at Tranmere last season, and the 24-year-old is now looking to put that behind him and kick on over the next 12 months.
“Last season was disappointing for me as I haven’t played as many games as I’d have liked, so this season I’m looking to get back playing and fit and get out on this wide right and show the fans what they’re used to seeing,” he said.
“From what I’ve heard from the lads John has got in, they are all good players, so I just want to play my part, get a few goals and a few assists and hopefully give that extra little push for the play-offs.”
Along with his time spent at Macclesfield and Tranmere, Mackreth has also played for Grimsby Town and Barrow during his career.
