Indecent images of children found in file
A MAN caught with indecent images of children has avoided a prison sentence.
Richard John Amos Acaster, 45, downloaded six photographs and stored them at his home, a court heard.
But they were found by police who were investigating him for other matters, prosecutors said.
At Macclesfield magistrates’ court, Acaster, of Mellor View, Disley, admitted possessing an indecent photograph of a child and making an indecent photograph of a child.
Debbie Byrne, prosecuting, said: “Police found two laptops, memory sticks and hard drives. Analysis of the equipment uncovered six indecent images of children of category C level. They were found in a folder called ‘young’.
“During his police interview Acaster admitting downloading the images in 2009 claiming he was ‘curious’.
Acaster, defending himself, said: “I am very sorry about what has happened.
“I no longer look at that sort of thing.”
Magistrates sentenced him to six months in prison suspended for 12 months and a 20-day rehabilitation activity.
He must also sign the Sex Offenders Register for five years.
