In­de­cent im­ages of chil­dren found in file

A MAN caught with in­de­cent im­ages of chil­dren has avoided a prison sen­tence.

Richard John Amos Acaster, 45, down­loaded six pho­to­graphs and stored them at his home, a court heard.

But they were found by po­lice who were in­ves­ti­gat­ing him for other mat­ters, pros­e­cu­tors said.

At Mac­cles­field mag­is­trates’ court, Acaster, of Mel­lor View, Dis­ley, ad­mit­ted pos­sess­ing an in­de­cent pho­to­graph of a child and mak­ing an in­de­cent pho­to­graph of a child.

Deb­bie Byrne, pros­e­cut­ing, said: “Po­lice found two lap­tops, mem­ory sticks and hard drives. Anal­y­sis of the equip­ment un­cov­ered six in­de­cent im­ages of chil­dren of cat­e­gory C level. They were found in a folder called ‘young’.

“Dur­ing his po­lice in­ter­view Acaster ad­mit­ting down­load­ing the im­ages in 2009 claim­ing he was ‘cu­ri­ous’.

Acaster, de­fend­ing him­self, said: “I am very sorry about what has hap­pened.

“I no longer look at that sort of thing.”

Mag­is­trates sen­tenced him to six months in prison sus­pended for 12 months and a 20-day re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion ac­tiv­ity.

He must also sign the Sex Of­fend­ers Reg­is­ter for five years.
