Engineers extend scout course
Around 50 British Gas engineers swapped their normal tools for hammers and spades for the day to help extend Barnswood Scout Camp’s obstacle course.
The engineers volunteered to build suspension bridges, stepping stones and tunnels, boosting the number of obstacles from six to 25.
Barnswood Scout Camp is the district scout camp for Macclesfield and Congleton Scouts.
The camp is also used by local Girl Guides and other youth groups.
The course will provide extra activity space for the thousands of Scouts visiting from the rest of the country and Europe in future.
Simon Carter, Scout leader at Barnswood Scout Camp, said: “I’d like to thank the British Gas engineers for all their hard work in creating a new and exciting space for the Scouts.
“In just a day, they’ve created something that hundreds if not thousands of Scouts will enjoy in years to come.”
