CHAIRMAN of Prestbury Parish Council, Arthur Dicken, and Rev Patrick Angier hosted the Annual Parish Civic Service at St Peter’s Church, Prestbury.

This year the service also commemorated the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The service was followed by coffee and biscuits in St Peter’s Rooms behind the church.

Rev Angier presented a copy of a book, ‘The Servant Queen’, a record and tribute to the service of the Queen produced by The Bible Society, to the leaders of civic and village organisations at the service.

Mr Dicken said: “The service was a moving tribute to the work of the Queen on her official birthday, combined with our annual Civic Service where we celebrate, and thank God, for all the good things we share through living in this village.”

He added that the service was ‘a reminder of the Christian values’ shared at home, in business and in all the work done for the village.
