Dancing and dogs at market
MORRIS men and pampered pooches were amongst the attractions at a special Treacle Market at the weekend.
Medieval music played as the Adlington Morris Men danced at the market on Sunday.
And the Treacle Hound Dog Show, hosted by local greyhound and lurcher rescue charity Erin Hounds, took place in the grounds of St Michael’s Parish Church. Proud owners brought along pets in categories including best puppy, best rescue and best dressed.
Duncan Broomhead, from Adlington Morris Men, said: “As the local morris side, we were pleased to support this event. We dance traditional English Cotswold Morris dances as performed for hundreds of years in villages such as Bampton, Headington and Adderbury. The music was by instruments with a history spanning several hundred years, from the medieval pipe and tabor to the 18th century fiddle, the 19th century piano accordion and melodeon.”
Adlington Morris Men are running free workshops on the second Tuesday of each month from October to January, 8.30pm to 10pm at Woodford Scout Hut. Visit adlingtonmorrismen.com
