Char­ity joins forces on LGBT

AGE UK Cheshire East is show­ing its com­mit­ment to­wards its les­bian, gay, bi and trans­gen­der staff and ser­vice users.

The char­ity has joined forces with Age UK Cheshire and Age UK Wir­ral to join the Stonewall Di­ver­sity Cham­pi­ons Pro­gramme - which pro­motes equal­ity.

The pro­gramme is a best prac­tice shar­ing forum in which or­gan­i­sa­tions re­ceive sup­port from Stonewall with their work to­wards equal­ity, with the aim of cre­at­ing a fully in­clu­sive work­place for all staff and em­bed­ding in­clu­sion in all ar­eas of ser­vice de­liv­ery.

Age UK Cheshire East needs to en­sure it reaches the di­verse pop­u­la­tion in the area to make sure its ser­vices are rel­e­vant and to give ev­i­dence to fun­ders that

it en­gages with a wide range of peo­ple to bring fund­ing into the area to pro­vide the right ser­vices for the lo­cal com­mu­nity.

Damon Taylor, chief ex­ec­u­tive of Age UK Cheshire East, said: “We are com­mit­ted to sup­port­ing our LGBT staff and com­mu­ni­ties. We un­der­stand the im­por­tance of cre­at­ing an in­clu­sive work­place for all staff. We recog­nise the value that LGBT staff and ser­vice users can bring to the or­gan­i­sa­tion and are tak­ing ac­tive steps to make our poli­cies, ac­tions, val­ues and ser­vices as in­clu­sive as pos­si­ble for LGBT staff and ser­vice users.”
