Rio inspiration boosts Harriers
INSPIRED by the success of Team GB in Rio, the Under 11 boys and girls of Macclesfield Harriers and Athletic Club won all four of their Cheshire Track and Field League matches over the summer.
In doing this, they achieved an unassailable points total to top the table of 21 clubs from across Cheshire, North Wales and Greater Manchester.
This is a fantastic achievement by the children and their coaches, Anna Carey, Rose McCormack and Jonnie Plumb. Thanks also to the parents who help out at Harriers training sessions on a Tuesday and Thursday.
A number of the athletes also achieved UK U13 rankings over the summer, further emphasising the talent of these young athletes.
The full team of 13 girls and 23 boys who competed for the club in the Cheshire League are Sam Bradley, Ed Browne, Hayden Blunn, Ada Cetinkaya, Jessica Christley, Thomas Danson, Lily Davies, Rebecca Dilworth, Freya Evans, Sophie Fletcher, Hattie Glover, Constance Gooda, Alex Gibbon, Harrison Gittins, Philip Goodfellow, Ian Hay, Ben Hawtin, Owen Heslop, Lara Maurice, Zak Mausa, Dylan McGrath, Erris Morrison, Charlie Orphanides, Finlay Pettie, Jake Purdie, Oliver Revill, William Roberts, Daniel Robinson, Tara Simpson, Bradley Snape, Fabian Thompson, Callum Wain, Ethan Warburton, Aadi Whitlock, Phoebe Whittaker, Amelia Wilson.
