Rio inspiration boosts Har­ri­ers

IN­SPIRED by the suc­cess of Team GB in Rio, the Un­der 11 boys and girls of Mac­cles­field Har­ri­ers and Ath­letic Club won all four of their Cheshire Track and Field League matches over the sum­mer.

In do­ing this, they achieved an unas­sail­able points to­tal to top the ta­ble of 21 clubs from across Cheshire, North Wales and Greater Manch­ester.

This is a fan­tas­tic achieve­ment by the chil­dren and their coaches, Anna Carey, Rose McCor­mack and Jon­nie Plumb. Thanks also to the par­ents who help out at Har­ri­ers train­ing ses­sions on a Tues­day and Thurs­day.

A num­ber of the ath­letes also achieved UK U13 rank­ings over the sum­mer, fur­ther em­pha­sis­ing the tal­ent of these young ath­letes.

The full team of 13 girls and 23 boys who com­peted for the club in the Cheshire League are Sam Bradley, Ed Browne, Hay­den Blunn, Ada Cetinkaya, Jes­sica Christ­ley, Thomas Dan­son, Lily Davies, Re­becca Dil­worth, Freya Evans, So­phie Fletcher, Hattie Glover, Con­stance Gooda, Alex Gibbon, Har­ri­son Git­tins, Philip Good­fel­low, Ian Hay, Ben Hawtin, Owen Hes­lop, Lara Maurice, Zak Mausa, Dy­lan McGrath, Er­ris Mor­ri­son, Char­lie Or­phanides, Fin­lay Pet­tie, Jake Pur­die, Oliver Revill, Wil­liam Roberts, Daniel Robin­son, Tara Simp­son, Bradley Snape, Fabian Thompson, Cal­lum Wain, Ethan War­bur­ton, Aadi Whit­lock, Phoebe Whit­taker, Amelia Wil­son.
