ARSONISTS are believed to have set fire to some timber in a forest. Firefighters were called to Macclesfield Forest after reports of a small fire. The crew attended Standing Stone Road and when they arrived found that the fire involved an amount of timber. The blaze is believed to have been started deliberately.

SWYTHAMLEY Historical Society is hosting a talk about the First World War military tribunals which decided whether men could be exempted from service or not. Rachel Cooksey will present the stories of local men at the Swythamley Centre on Thursday November 10 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £3 on the door.
