Mu­seum of­fers artists chance to show work

THE SILK mu­seum is once again giv­ing as­pir­ing artists the op­por­tu­nity to dis­play their work.

The Macclesfield Open Art Ex­hi­bi­tion, which will be on dis­play over the Christ­mas pe­riod, show­cases emerg­ing tal­ent and gives lo­cal artists the op­por­tu­nity to ex­hibit.

Or­gan­is­ers are now call­ing for peo­ple to sub­mit their mas­ter­pieces for this year’s event.

Or­gan­iser Ge­off Archer said: “Last year more than 180 works from al­most 300 sub­mit­ted were ex­hib­ited and the stan­dard of the work was ex­tremely high.”

There are also five awards to be won, in­clud­ing the Macclesfield Open Award - £300 - and two £100 Highly Com­mended Awards (cho­sen by the judges). There’s also a £100 award cho­sen and do­nated by Mail Boxes Etc. and a Vis­i­tors’ Choice award, voted for by vis­i­tors to the ex­hi­bi­tion. There is no age re­stric­tion. The ex­hi­bi­tion will be at the Silk Mu­seum from Satur­day, De­cem­ber 10, un­til Satur­day, Jan­uary 21 next year. Work must be sub­mit­ted on Fri­day or Satur­day, Novem­ber 18/19, at the Silk Mu­seum on Park Lane, be­tween 10.30am and 3pm.
