SHE may only be five years old, but Milly Malone has already danced her way to the top of her game.

Milly, who lives on Sutton Close with mum Kate Lashford, has been named the British Under six Slow Champion after impressing judges at the Blackpool Freestyle Championships.

Kate says she and Milly’s dad Kelvin Malone are over the moon with her achievement.

She said: “We went with no expectations at all and she only went and won!

“We are thrilled. She was amazing and we are very proud of her.

“It was a very long day but it was worth it to see her little face light up when we were told she’d won.”

Milly’s love of dancing grew after her grandma Pat Potts took her to her first lesson at Apple Dance Group, at St Barnabus Church, when she was two. Kate, who works as a quantity surveyor, added: “The dancing was just something for her to do with my mum during the week and she loved it so we just carried on from there. There’s no pressure, she tried her best and she worked hard, we are very proud of her.”

Milly dances with her ‘Apple Family’ twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays.
