Choir sets date for fes­tive con­cert

MAC­CLES­FIELD Ori­ana choir is launch­ing its 87th sea­son of mu­sic-mak­ing by per­form­ing a light­hearted mu­si­cal mix.

The gig, en­ti­tled ‘a mu­si­cal pot pourri’ will be at Mac­cles­field Methodist Church on Satur­day, Novem­ber 26, at 7.30pm.

Con­ducted by Keith Years­ley, the con­cert will fea­ture opera cho­ruses, sea­sonal Christ­mas mu­sic and solo items, all spiced with hu­mour.

All the tunes will be ac­com­pa­nied on the pi­ano and or­gan by Andy Don­ald­son.

Af­ter the con­cert there will be cof­fee and mince pies.

Dur­ing its his­tory, the choir has won at ma­jor mu­sic fes­ti­vals and a cot in Mac­cles­field In­fir­mary was ded­i­cated to them dur­ing the Se­cond World War to thank them for their monthly con­certs.
