Styal to the fore of footgolf popularity
FOOTGOLF is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and Styal Golf Club, with its excellent facilities, has played a key role in this.
During the winter months Styal will now host the 2016 Winter League in association with FootGolf Cheshire and there will be a £500 prize pot and a trophy on offer for the winner and also £250 and a trophy for the best newcomer plus many other prizes during the seven-week programme.
The league dates are Oct 30, Nov 6, 13 and 27, Dec 4, 11 and 18 with the last date being finals Day and the Handicap invitational Cup.
Also on November 20 there will be a Random Doubles Day.

Styal’s men played a Par competition and in division one Khalil Musa was top of the shop on +2 from Simon Geddis, Iain Burnage and Peter Cordwell, all +1.
In division two Owen Trainor was the only player to reach level par ahead of David Jones and Gavin Jamieson, both -1.
The ‘Open to All’ Sunday Stableford at Styal had Robert Coatham in charge with 39 points ahead of Gary Matthews 38 and John Molloy and David Massey, both 37.
Styal Captain Kevin Bocquet showed his class in the latest Seniors Winter League with a good haul of 43 points taking him home from Gordon Hamilton 41 and Harry Reid and David Bate, both 40.
Styal ladies were also in Winter League action with Sue Grange top of the shop with 28 points from Enid Laverty 27 and Joan MacPherson and Claire Whitney, both 26.
Alderley Edge ladies enjoyed a ‘Chicken Run’ Stableford which was led in by Barbara Moss with 33 points from Julie Ricketts and Lisa Burns, both 31 and Celia Berent 30.
Wilmslow’s men played the first round of their Winter League BB Stableford and setting the early pace were Alan Marcus and Andrew Marr with 46 points from Joseph Wee and Anthony O’Rourke 45 and Michael Charlton and Jon Bean 44.
The Thursday Stableford at Shrigley Hall was won by Andy Atkinson with 38 points from Sally Trussell 36 and Ray haddock, Don Farquharson and Keith Froggatt, all 34.
A Saturday medal at Shrigley was a close contest led in by Martin Jackson with 68, one shot less than Joe Cassidy, Niall Lynch and Mike Pollitt.
A Winter Stableford at Mottram Hall had Adam Bunt in the pole position with 40 points from Graham Moss 38 and Mike Davis, Andy Hamlett, Dave Smith and William Murphy, all 37.
Prestbury’s men showed their adaptability in a Five Club Stableford and none more than Ian Rennison with a huge haul of 42 points taking him home from Kenneth Williamson 39 and ian Johnson 38.
Prestbury ladies were alo in a ‘Chicken Run’ and Cheshire star Gill Mellor showed her class as she topped division one with 34 points from Lynne Dicken 32 and Linda Buckley 31.
In division two Linda Miller was first past the post with 33 points from Gill Usher 33 and Jill Gregory, Jenny Purves and Lady Captain Jayne Harrison, all 31.
In the 9-hole Stableford Helen Williams was a clear winner with 13 points, four more than Jackie Hardcastle
