Head’s con­cern over man who fol­lowed school­girls

A ‘SUS­PI­CIOUS’ man fol­lowed a group of girls on their way home from school.

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing re­ports a man fol­lowed fe­male pupils from Tyther­ing­ton School be­tween Clare Drive and Dorch­ester Way af­ter school on Tues­day (Novem­ber 15).

A spokesman said: “Of­fi­cers are in­ves­ti­gat­ing re­ports of a man act­ing sus­pi­ciously near to Tyther­ing­ton School.

“The man is de­scribed as 40 to 50 years old, of slim build and ap­prox­i­mately 5ft 10in tall. At the time of the in­ci­dent he was wear­ing jeans, a green jacket, train­ers, glasses and a dark blue base­ball cap.

“The man was seen by a group of girls be­tween Clare Drive and Dorch­ester Way at ap­prox­i­mately 3.45pm.”

Head­teacher Em­manuel Botwe at Tyther­ing­ton School raised the alarm af­ter the in­ci­dent and sent out a warn­ing to par­ents on­line.

Mr Botwe said: “We have re­ceived a re­port of a man in the Tyther­ing­ton es­tate area be­hav­ing sus­pi­ciously and fol­low­ing some of our stu­dents.”

No ar­rests have been made and any­one with in­for­ma­tion is asked to con­tact 101 quot­ing in­ci­dent num­ber 651 of Novem­ber 15.
