Tag or­dered for ho­mo­pho­bic abuse

A MAN has been given an elec­tronic tag af­ter us­ing ho­mo­pho­bic lan­guage dur­ing an as­sault.

Carl Ja­son Fen­ton, 33, spat on the woman dur­ing the ver­bal at­tack in Mac­cles­field on Au­gust 21.

At Crewe mag­is­trates court, Fen­ton, of Knight Street, Mac­cles­field, ad­mit­ted as­sault by beat­ing on the ba­sis that he spat on her.

He was given a elec­tron­i­cally mon­i­tored cur­few prevent­ing him from leav­ing his home be­tween 9pm and 7am for nine weeks.

He was also or­dered to com­plete 15 days of Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Ac­tiv­ity.

Fen­ton was told to pay £50 com­pen­sa­tion to his vic­tim.

He was banned from en­ter­ing the Rumba Bar, Pick­field Street, Mac­cles­field, for a year. Court doc­u­ments re­vealed that mag­is­trates in­creased the length of the cur­few be­cause he “used ho­mo­pho­bic lan­guage”.

Fen­ton was also or­dered to pay £165 le­gal costs.
