Recruits sought for cadet group

Macclesfield Express - - BEFORE THE BENCH -

CHESHIRE Police is launching a new Cadet group in Macclesfield.

It’s free to join, with uniform and boots provided.

Cadets are given first aid training and learn about forensics at a crime scene, how to solve a crime and how to record information and duties in a police notebook.

They also get to attend a forest camp to take part in rafting and team building exercises, plus a visit to a detention centre and a trip to see how the Roads Police manage an accident.

Emma Kerr, cadet co-ordinator, said: “It’s a great way to make a new group of friends and offer something to your local community, as half the time is spent with the police and half doing voluntary work such as supporting younger children with school or sports events, or assisting with local community groups.”

The Macclesfield group will meet every other Monday, between 7pm and 9pm, at Tytherington High School. Prospective cadets must fill in an online application before Sunday, December 11.
