Sedbergh tournament proves big hit
A RUGBY tournament for 12 and 13 year olds held at Sedbergh School on Sunday attracted 350 children from rugby clubs all over the North of England.
The aim of the day was to bring together these young players to play fixtures against clubs they would not normally be able to meet, to have lots of fun, focus on development not winning, and to enjoy the day. The sole focus for the day was team building and development of individual players.
Clubs attending were Macclesfield, West Park Leeds, Lymm, Kendal, Kirkby Lonsdale, Wharfedale, Stockport, Manchester, Wilmslow, Harrogate, Vale of Lune, Morpeth and Bowdon.
Jason Duffy, Tournament Organiser and Sedbergh School Commercial Development Coach, is also an England U16 development coach and an Old Sedberghian. He said: “The games were played in a wonderful spirit which ensured all boys felt completely relaxed to express themselves through exciting running rugby. Thank you for all clubs taking part and we hope to see the players from your clubs taking part in our Easter and Summer rugby courses.”
