Sed­bergh tour­na­ment proves big hit

A RUGBY tour­na­ment for 12 and 13 year olds held at Sed­bergh School on Sun­day at­tracted 350 chil­dren from rugby clubs all over the North of Eng­land.

The aim of the day was to bring to­gether these young play­ers to play fix­tures against clubs they would not nor­mally be able to meet, to have lots of fun, fo­cus on de­vel­op­ment not win­ning, and to en­joy the day. The sole fo­cus for the day was team build­ing and de­vel­op­ment of in­di­vid­ual play­ers.

Clubs at­tend­ing were Mac­cles­field, West Park Leeds, Lymm, Ken­dal, Kirkby Lons­dale, Wharfedale, Stock­port, Manch­ester, Wilm­slow, Har­ro­gate, Vale of Lune, Mor­peth and Bow­don.

Ja­son Duffy, Tour­na­ment Or­gan­iser and Sed­bergh School Com­mer­cial De­vel­op­ment Coach, is also an Eng­land U16 de­vel­op­ment coach and an Old Sed­berghian. He said: “The games were played in a won­der­ful spirit which en­sured all boys felt com­pletely re­laxed to ex­press them­selves through ex­cit­ing run­ning rugby. Thank you for all clubs tak­ing part and we hope to see the play­ers from your clubs tak­ing part in our Easter and Sum­mer rugby cour­ses.”
