Former football player accused of sex assault
EX-MANCHESTER City player Chris Killen has appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting a woman in his former home.
Killen, 35, who lives on London Road, Adlington, appeared at a brief preliminary hearing at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester.
Killen pleaded not guilty to the single charge during a previous hearing at Bury Magistrates Court.
The court was told that the charge relates to an alleged incident at his former home in September this year.
The hearing was adjourned for reports to be completed before another preliminary hearing at the same court on January 13.
A trial, which is expected to last for three days, was set for June 21 next year.
Mr Killen was granted conditional bail.
The former New Zealand striker represented his country 48 times, scoring 16 goals.
He started his career at Manchester City before spells at Oldham Athletic, Celtic, Middlesbrough, and the now dissolved Chinese club Chongqing FC.
