New lease of life for sandwich shop

Macclesfield Express - - NOSTALGIA -

A NEW sandwich shop has opened on the high street after a local businessman stepped in when the old shop closed.

Former politician Edwina Currie unveiled Charlie’s Deli on Chestergate with owner Ian Pinches.

It’s in the former Livesey’s sandwich shop which closed in August just months after opening in March. Owner Jo Weselby moved Livesey’s from Bollington where it was renowned for its sandwiches, but the business was not viable on Chestergate.

But Ian Pinches, who owns business consultancy Cambio group, has employed Jo to work in the overhauled shop, with Alex Blaikie from now-closed cafe Amuse as front of house manager.

It’s part of Ian’s bigger project to converting Georgian heritage building Charles Roe House into a GP surgery, art house, events space and cafe.

Jo will work on the catering at the house.

Ian said: “I’ve employed Livesey’s creative talent and Charlie’s is a new twist to your favourite sandwich shop.

“This is part of the portfolio with Charles Roe House which we hope will really give the town centre a boost.”
