Band on the up

A MAC­CLES­FIELD in­die band have launched their new sin­gle.

Cas­sia, which fea­tures trio Robert El­lis, Lou Cot­ter­ill and Ja­cob Leff, have been out on their first headline tour pro­mot­ing ‘100 times over’.

The sin­gle was re­leased on November 18 on Scruff of the Neck.

It is the third sin­gle from their de­but EP.

The band describe them­selves as play­ing a ca­lypso pop/in­die style. Com­par­i­son can be drawn to acts like Vam­pire Week­end and Lit­tle Comets.

They started play­ing to­gether last year and have started to build up a fol­low­ing with gigs all over the north west, in­clud­ing a few venues in their home town.

In May, Cas­sia were cho­sen to play at the Lowry dur­ing the first night of the pro­duc­tion of Tom the Mu­si­cal, af­ter a pub­lic vote.

Cas­sia have clocked up sup­port slots with fel­low up-and-com­ing acts, in­clud­ing Lis­bon and Girl Friend, and did the UK fes­ti­val cir­cuit play­ing Brown­stock, Folk On the Lawn, and Y-Not Fes­ti­val.

Rob said: “It has been a great year so far and we’ve got some big things start­ing to hap­pen.”
